Davis

My sweet boy turned two in February!

At some point he did this to his eye!

And potty-trained himself (kind of) after we duct taped his diaper! Let me explain. He kept taking his diaper off and trying to relieve himself in it while off, or elsewhere on the floor. I had finally had enough after cleaning up around 10 "accidents" in two days. First, we tried duct-taping his diaper, which was at least a good laugh. Next, I got really upset at him and told him he either goes pee-pee and poo-poo in the potty or in his diaper so he chose the potty! The rest is history (kind of)! Let's just say a certain other adult in our household would rather leave Davis in a diaper all day. Funny though now that he is potty-trained (kind of) he no longer takes off his diaper when it is left on after he wakes up!

He also burned himself around his eye after pulling a lamp down on top of him. I was really worried my beautiful child would be left with a scar, but while it is still red it has healed as well as I could have hoped for.

I almost forgot, he acquired the chicken pox in October after a trip to Disneyland!

Introducing Alexander Pierce

Born March 5, weighing in at 9lbs. 6 oz.  He is now two months old and doing great!

Drew & Davis

both in ties and playing with motorcycles. Davis was in rare form and sitting still - he must not have felt well.  I think he was teething (2 year molars ) at the time (January 14th).

We've been busy!

First, we painted our living room!

Then we planted some fruit bearing trees, including Anna apple (with a red blush), Mid-Pride peach, Clementine and Mexican or Key lime.  I've been wanting to do this for a while with the cost of produce so high, but didn't want to spend $60 a tree.  So when I ran across Baker's Nursery and found five-gallon trees for $19.95, I jumped on it.  I love this nursery.  They have just about anything that can grow in AZ (with great prices) and they're family owned, which I like.  The citrus is a bit more, but Costco had it for $18.99 a tree.  They're sold out now though and you can only get the trees in the spring, which is the best time to plant fruit trees from what I'm told.

Can you believe all the fruit from these small trees?  There were four apples.  I say "were" since my son picked one and this tree was planted first so was the most traumatized.  (We didn't know what we were doing yet.)  There is still one apple left though!  The peach has four bigger fruit and a few smaller growing on it.  I can't even count all the fruit on the lime, but the clementine will take a little longer.  Maybe next year!

Not much to say

So the reason I don't post more frequently is because I never know what to write about. (Does that mean I'm boring?) Anyway, I can still post pictures so enjoy! Most of these are from Easter.

Thank you for Taco Bell

Drew's on a roll lately. Tonight, for bedtime prayers he said "Thank you for Taco Bell" and "Thank you for eating my apples". The translation probably goes something like this: "Thank you for the apples I had to eat right before bed". Does this mean we've done a good job and taught him to be thankful for even the little things? ;)

I need rock - n - roll

Yes, these words came out of my son's mouth. Here's how it went down. Tim was playing a video of his band. When it ended my son uttered these words after telling us to turn the video back on. Like father, like son I'm afraid. Of course, I think Drew's been taught or coaxed a bit towards music.

Comments

I've had to delete a couple of comments. One said "See... then there were a couple of links and that was it! Kind of suspicious. For now, you have to be permitted to leave comments, which I don't even know how to give anyone permission as I'm on my blog page so often. ;) If you know email me so I can give my friends permission. Has this happened to anyone else?

Pictures!

Seriously, the reason I never do this is because it takes me too long. As I'm trying to type Davis is reaching for the mouse and keyboard. It doesn't make it very easy when I keep having to stop since Davis is successful at getting his hands on the mouse and pushing buttons or hitting keys on the keyboard. I've also changed a poopy diaper in the meantime, retrieved Davis from toilet water, and kept Drew from emptying yet another bottle of bubbles. Drew has asked me to read a book. And I've kept disasters from occurring on my piano! That's just the beginning... Does this sound familiar or am I alone? I've noticed my kids are the happiest when I just give up and sit on the floor with them all day long. My house gets destroyed and I don't do dishes, laundry or anything else that needs to be done but my kids are happy. I'm really trying to find a way to keep my kids happy and a clean house at the same time. If you know how to do it, please let me know!

Enjoy the pics!

Chelsea

Here is a link to Tim's cousin's blog page: http://www.cbranam.blogspot.com/

Her two year old is receiving round five of chemotherapy to treat leukemia she was diagnosed with in September. I visit her page frequently and it definitely puts life in perspective for me! Her and her daughter are living at the hospital in Kansas City while her four year old son and husband are in Topeka. (Kansas City and Topeka are about an hour and a half drive time away from eachother.) I've thought about sharing her blog page with my friends before, but it never seemed appropriate until now. She's trying to raise money so her husband can spend some time at the hospital with her and her daughter. She doesn't complain, but I can't even imagine chasing around a two year old that has a Hickman or "line" for the chemo coming out of her chest. Also, at times they have been in "confinement" when her daughter is sick so she doesn't infect the other kids receiving chemo. This means they can not leave the hospital room. Okay, so if you have toddlers you know how hard it is to keep them contained just for a 15 minute doctor's appointment. Can you even imagine living in a hospital room for days at a time? Anyway, check out her blog, she updates it often. She's asking for prayers for her daughter right now as the chemo is making her very sick!

And the calling is....

Enrichment leader. In my last ward I gave the enrichment leader a hard time over doing lots of crafts so I wasn't too surprised. No crafts!!! j/k

So Tim had the baby shark story a bit wrong. Drew was using this huge blue IKEA bag and pretending he was in a boat on the ocean. He had a ball in the boat that Davis kept trying to get and if you've read the pirate book by David Shannon a shark comes along and swallows the ball. That's really how Davis was nicknamed "Baby Shark", and of course the name stuck - ocean or no ocean. His 4 teeth at the tender age of 7 months definitely help!

Baby Shark and Oh so much more!

Well, it's been a busy couple weeks in the Remington Household. Let's see, where to start? Drew turned 3 this week. His grandparents from KS came into town to celebrate and the Drewster got lots of presents. The first one he opened had an assortment of Thomas the Train items and he decided he didn't want to open anymore gifts. This was his so called Holy Grail of gifts. I was finally able to convince him that there might be other Thomas stuff in the other packages so he started tearing them open. Of course every package he ripped open contained some sort of Thomas toy and he would stop again, content with the fact that he had yet another Thomas item to add to his shrine.

Davis began crawling this week. Originally he was getting around by what we liked to call the worm. If you remember 80's break dancing, you know what I'm talking about. It was pretty sweet. I'm waiting for him to bust out some head spins or something. Of course Davis' older brother is very protective of his new toys and doesn't want his brother playing with them at all. So I came home from work one day and Drew was calling Davis Baby Shark. I couldn't figure out why, but it was pretty funny. Everytime Davis would start motoring in Drews direction Drew would start screaming "BABY SHARK" and go running. Kami said it was because she told Drew he better stop taking toys away from Davis or Baby Shark was gonna get him. This is apparently the nickname Kami gave Davis since he now has 2 more teeth in his arsenal.

Since my parents live in Kansas they don't get a chance to see the kids as much as I wish they could. The last few times they came in town Drew took awhile to warm up to them. Not this time. Once he saw them he wanted nothing to do with Daddy. I guess he temporarilty forgot who his food and shelter came from.. lol..

Kami and I both came down with a sinus infection recently.. Hers lasted 2 days and mine is still here, going on 3 weeks now. It sucks really bad waking up with cotton mouth from not being able to breathe through my nose. Life goes on though.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot. We got a call to meet with the Bishop. Our new building was completed and we are now in a new ward. The previous one we were in had over a thousand people and the new one is around 500. With so many people, we were able to fly under the radar and didn't have callings for over a year. That is some sort of record I think. We have been in the new ward for like 2 weeks and we were already getting called in. Let's just say that It wasn't me who received a calling.. lol.. I can't say what it is yet as she hasn't been sustained, but when they ask for all those opposed I may just have to raise my hand to freak her out.. lol. jk.. I don't think I've ever seen anyone raise their hands for that. It's kinda funny because back in the day they did it all the time from what I hear..

Ok, this rambling has gone on long enough. The End

"I'm mad!"

So Tim told Drew he couldn't watch another tv program last night and Drew came to me and said "I'm mad". It was really kind of cute. Lately, he has started holding grudges (very short-lived) when he is mad. Today, at Costco, he wanted a Thomas the Train DVD and my brother helped me deal with Drew's tantrum by holding him while he was writhing and screaming trying to make his way back to the DVD section. When my brother and I were parting ways, Rian tried to give Drew hugs and kisses and Drew just turned his head. He was holding a grudge, I guess!

I'm not sure who coined the phrase Terrible 2's... The closer Drew gets to 3, the worse it gets. He was such a sweet 1 and 2 year old. Within the last couple of months it has been getting worse and worse. He started pre-school last week so I hope that will help. He really likes his teacher. She said he gets upset if she leaves him during pick up time to take another child to his parent. I was in line to pick him up yesterday and watched him following her from car to car and wondered what was going on.

Trip to Sedona

Well, the family took a trip to Sedona, AZ this week. I fun filled 2 days and 2 nights. We started the trip out by forgetting our camera and video camera. Fortunately Rian was tagging along and remembered his. I'll load some pictures when I get them from him. Davis was none too happy on the ride down. He screamed for 1 1/2 hours straight. It made for a very frustrating drive. Thank Goodness for the IPOD:)

When we finally got into Sedona it was so nice, not only was the weather around 80 degrees, but Davis finally calmed down and gave mommy and daddy a break. Oh, btw. Drew slept through most of the screaming. Not sure how that kid does it.

So after about 5 hours of sleep we woke up and headed to Flagstaff. Kami kept telling me about this place that is actually called "The Place" that had the best inexpensive breakfast. I wasn't all that impressed, but I'm not sure if it's like a movie that someone tells you is great and then you see it and it's ok, but since you were expecting the best movie you ever saw it was a tad disappointing.

Once we ate breakfast we went up to Snow Bowl and walked around the slopes. I was a little paranoid because I thought I kept hearing rattlesnakes. The view was beautiful though. It was the first time the kids had ever seen that much green. The mountains were awesome and Drew entertained himself by taking his Thomas the train and throwing it around as he said "Catch".. His fun and games finally ended as I looked over and saw him chuck his train into a hole dug into the ground by some sort of animal. Rian had to stick his entire arm in to finally grab poor Thomas. I just kept picturing a rabid animal taking a chunck out of his hand.

We let Rian drive us around since he knew the area well.. I think I saw every residence he stayed in while he was in college there. I was suprised they were all still standing.

I almost forgot, as we were driving up to Snow Bowl we saw some trains. Now for those of you that don't know Drew very well, he is fixated with trains. So we made sure to stop on the way back down the mountain. Of course Drew was asleep when we got back to the train. Now normally nothing could wake Drew up, but all we had to say was "Drew look, a Train." His head slowly stirred from one side to the other and then straight up focused on the train out the window. Kami and Rian took him out to take some pictures, but I don't think Drew realized just how big the train was from a distance. Once he got up close and personal he didn't want anything else to do with that bad train.

The next morning, we checked out around 7:30 and began the journey home.. At 7:45 my cell rang and the service wouldn't allow me to pick it up.. It was Rian who got about a 2 minute head start back home. Once I missed the call I noticed a DPS officer sitting at the bottom of a hill. Of course he decided to start following us and eventually pulled us over. This is how bored he must have been.. He pulled over our gangsta minivan and told us the tinting on our windows was too dark. He had a guage and everything to measure the darkness. After all was said and done, he wasted 20 minutes of our time and gave us an order of repair that we need to send in within 5 days saying we had the problem corrected. The catch is that we didn't have to have it looked at by anyone.. We just have to sign it and send it in saying the work was completed? I wonder if Phoenix PD would even care? I DON'T THINK SO!!! BTW, Rian left a message on my phone which I checked while the officer had us pulled over. Rian was just calling to let us know there was a cop shooting radar.. lol. Freakin' cell phone service.

We're glad to be back home though.. We missed our own bed. Man this is long. I'm going to bed.

Teeth anyone?

Well, it was a rough night for Kami. Davis woke up a couple times last night screaming. Guess I was tired because I barely remember it. Found out the reason why this morning. He finally had a tooth come through. I'm just glad I'm not the one breast feeding now!!! lol..

Drew is doing well. He is really starting to say a lot of words. Daddy has to watch what he says around him now as he repeats many of our words. His last one was Sweet!!!!!!

Davis is almost 6 months and Drew is about 3 years.. Wow, where does the time go. We will be taking a mini vacation to Sedona in a few weeks to get out of this heat.. I'm getting ready for the big show. My Motley Crue Tribute band will be playing at the Marquee Theatre in 2 weeks in front of more people than I have ever performed in front of.. Hopefully I can keep my lunch down.

I'll load more pics when I get some time..

Gotta run..

Craziness I tell ya

Well, this is my first entry on this blog.. Barely have time to do it, but finally decided to.. Kami and I have decided since we are both to busy or in my case busy and a tad lazy to write in our childrens journals we would set them up email address' so anyone could write them emails and later when they get older they can read what their friends and family wrote to them. I know.. Cool Idea huh?.. lol..

I took their emails off this page to keep stupid spammers from sending emails, but contact me and I'll get you their address'.

So what's been going on with the Remington Crue? Well, Momma is busy taking care of the kids all day long and doing Real Estate part time. Sometimes I am so thankful that I actually have a job to escape to. Myself, I am working at Bank Of America as a Technical Business Analyst/Security Point of Contact.. I recently got my Real Estate license and have to finish some classes with my broker. Also I am singing in a Motley Crue Tribute band.. Yes, I look hot in leather, lipstick and long blonde hair. See for yourself.. www.myspace.com/toofastforloveband

Here are some updated pics of the famn damily..
